Two new Honorary Consuls of Lithuania start their work in Norway

On 15-16 of June, two Lithuanian consulates in Kristianstad and Stavanger were opened in Norway. Two newly appointed honorary consuls commenced their work in the consulates.

Mr. Pål Martens Bratland was appointed Honorary Consul in Kristianstad. His consular district includes the regions of West Agder and East Agder.

Mr. Tor Alm was appointed Honorary Consul in the administrative centre of Rogaland region in the city of Stavanger.

On the occasion of the opening of the honorary consulates Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Darius Skusevičius noted that Lithuania and Norway are bound by a special cooperation in energy security, economics, defence and other areas and that Norway is a close and reliable partner of Lithuania. The opening of honorary consulates of Lithuania in Kristianstad and Stavanger is to further reinforce this cooperation, while the experience of both honorary consuls in the business sector and already existing relationships with Lithuania shall greatly contribute to the development of regional cooperation, strengthening of economic, commercial relations and attracting investment. The honorary consuls shall also seek stronger cooperation of Lithuania and Norway in a number of areas such as culture, education and other, and maintain close relationship with local Lithuanian communities.

The openings of the honorary consulates were attended by representatives from the cities' authorities, business, educational, culture institutions and Lithuanian communities.

As of now Norway shall have eight Lithuanian honorary consulates.
