Issuance of the return certificate
Requesting the issue a Return Certificate after the expiration of Lithuanian passport or Lithuanian Identity card requires the following documents to be submitted to the embassy:
- Filled request form, which can be downloaded at https://no.mfa.lt/uploads/no/documents/AGP/AGPprasymas2013.pdf;
- Two 35x45 mm size photos matching person’s age;
- Current Lithuanian passport or Lithuanian Identity card;
- Consular fee for issuance of the Certificate of Return – approximately 50NOK, each month the fee can be checked at https://no.mfa.lt/no/lt/konsuline-informacija/kita-konsuline-informacija/konsulinio-mokescio-tarifai. The fee can be paid by card or in cash.
Requesting the issue of a Return Certificate after the expiration of a child’s Lithuanian passport or Lithuanian Identity card requires the following documents to be submitted to the embassy:

Requesting the issue of a Return Certificate for a child born in Norway requires the following documents to be submitted to the embassy:
- Filled request form, which can be downloaded at https://no.mfa.lt/uploads/no/documents/AGP/AGPprasymas2013.pdf;
- Two 35x45 mm size photos matching child’s age;
- Lithuanian passport or Identity card of both or one of child’s parents;
- Child’s birth certificate (Fodselsatest) with Apostille. Apostille can be obtained at Fylkesmannen (http://www.fylkesmannen.no);
- Lithuanian passport or Identity card of both or one of child’s parents;
- Consular fee for issuance of the Certificate of Return – approximately 50NOK, each month the fee can be checked at https://no.mfa.lt/no/lt/konsuline-informacija/kita-konsuline-informacija/konsulinio-mokescio-tarifai. The fee can be paid by card or in cash.
Requesting the issue of a Return Certificate due to the loss of Lithuanian passport or Lithuanian identity card requires the following documents to be submitted to the embassy:
- Filled request form, which can be downloaded at https://no.mfa.lt/uploads/no/documents/AGP/AGPprasymas2013.pdf;
- Two 35x45 mm size photos matching person’s age;
- Consular fee for issuance of the Certificate of Return – approximately 50 NOK, each month the fee can be checked at https://no.mfa.lt/no/lt/konsuline-informacija/kita-konsuline-informacija/konsulinio-mokescio-tarifai. The fee can be paid by card or in cash.
IMPORTANT: Return Certificate is only needed for the travel to Lithuania and is valid 2 weeks from the date of issue. During this period you will have to come back to Lithuania and make a new document in Lithuania. Return certificate for children are reclaimed by one of the parents, legal representative or authorized person by a legal representative. Children up to 1 year are not required to be taken to the embassy. Participation is mandatory to the children older than 1 year.
