Ambassador’s visit to Hitra and Frøya

On October 1-3, Lithuanian Ambassador to Norway Izolda Bričkovskienė paid a visit to Hitra and Frøya islands at an invitation of local Lithuanians and municipalities.

During the visit, Ambassador Bričkovskienė met local Lithuanians and Hitra and Frøya kommune officials. Living and working conditions as well as other relevant issues were discussed at the meetings.  

Ambassador Bričkovskienė also visited several enterprises in Frøya where a number of Lithuanians are employed. Morevoer, head of the Lithuanian Embassy in Oslo took part at a festival Kystmarkedet held by the Frøya kommune. Among others, Lithuanian chamber choir Cantus Vita from Kupiškis was performing at the festival.

There are currently several hundred Lithuanians living in Hitra and Frøya. They comprise about 6-7 percent of the whole population of the island.
