Lithuania marks the 30th anniversary of the Day of the Defenders
On the night of January 13, 1991, Soviet troops attempted to seize power months after Lithuania declared independence. Fourteen people died during the violence.
The candle, as a symbol of the memory, today is lit across Lithuania and by the Lithuanian communities abroad.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania and most of the embassies around the world have released an animated video to mark the 30th anniversary of the January 1991 events: https://bit.ly/3nAuQxT
